Apartment Review for Boulder Property Management - Boulder, CO

We've been renting from BPM for a few months now and have had a pretty good experience so far. The pros: Maintenance responds pretty quickly, monthly statements are mailed out itemizing charges and they include a newsletter - a really nice touch (compared to Sunnyside, which would never let us know what we owed until months later when they'd send a bill for small charges that had been accumulating), and BPM was accommodating to our move-in requests (ie. fiberglass shower doors replaced by a curtain rod, fan replaced, etc). The cons: Coin laundry ($1 per load, when we already have to pay the water and electric to run the machines), shared utils are expensive (especially water), people leave their dog poop in the landscaping outside the apartment complex, and our apartment was NOT CLEANED before we moved in (besides the obvious vacuuming) - there was all sorts of crap in the heaters (cough drop, bottle cap, lots of hair and dust bunnies), walls were dirty, and under/behind the stove was disgusting (all sorts of filth including mouse poop!). This really pissed me off, because I scrubbed the hell out of my old apartment before I moved out, only to have to move in and do it over. I have to wonder if the old tenants were charged for cleaning... Also, a few months after moving in, our cat caught a mouse, which freaked us out, but BPM dealt with it immediately (I got a very nice voicemail detailing how the problem would be dealt with shortly after dropping off a letter of complaint). Overall, our apartment is nice, in a good location with reasonable rent (for Boulder), and BPM does what they can to make renting a little easier for us.
